LaserSoft Imaging

First post...great software.

I'm using SE with my V500 on Win7.

When I preview an image (color transparency) and look at the "levels", I notice that the software automatically places the lowest black point at the bottom of the graph. So essentially, the software is predetermining where the lowest black point is.

Is there a way for me to slide the black point slider further to the left? I want to be able to scan the image without a "pure black" point.

Does that make sense?

I also have SE Plus for a different scanner (Plustek 7600i) and I can do this...the software doesn't end the graph at the left edge of the histogram.

You can directly move the triangle marking the darkest point below the histogram.

Thanks for the reply. What I'm trying to get at is that the graph will not let me move the black triangle any more to the left. Is there a way to expand the histogram so that I can do this?

No the Histogram shows the entire Scanner colorspace.
There is no further information available "outside" the histogram.

Since you are using SilverFast SE which is the entry flavor of SilverFast, you will find many features that work automatically.

The Histogram will always display the information of the scanning frame. If your scanning frame limits with the borders of the image, only its info will be displayed.

Since there isn't any more place to the left where to move the black point, your option would be to make the scan area a bit larger than the image. When you include more information it will be reflected in the histogram and you might now set the black points and grey points where you want.
