profiling hp 8450 printer- ?how to disable color management

I'm trying to profile my printer and am having a problem with setting up. Any help would be appreciated.
Mac 10.6.1
Silverfast Ai Studio 6.6.1r3 with iT8 calibration target (silverfast)
hp Photosmart 8450 series printer- wireless via Airport Express
When using the Printer Profile Wizard it says " Most important: disable any color management and color adjustment settings in the printer driver".
After clicking "Print Printer Profiling Target" the print dialogue allows me choices under "Color Matching"- either "Vendor Matching" or "Color Sync".
If I pick "ColorSync" I am then asked to choose a profile (of printer-paper combination). If I choose "Vendor Matching", then under the "Paper Type/Quality" tab I am asked to choose for Color: either "Colorsmart sRGB", "Adobe RGB (1998)", or "Application Managed Colors."
I'm thinking that I should choose "Color Sync" and my printer-paper combination from the vendor supplied profiles. Am I correct?
Thank you for your time.
