Howtek 4500 + Silverfast AI

Just throwing this out here to see if someone knows a solution.

I go to do a prescan in silverfast.
scanner starts up
after 3-4 seconds, scan stops and I get a calibration error (f702)
I've checked the lamps, checked the drive belt.
The machine has worked for the last 18 months, but I have not used it in 3 months.

I'm wondering if the issue is hardware, software, or scsi connection somehow timing out. I've switched scsi cards, ports, reboot, etc.

If anyone has experienced this, I'd like to know a better work around than the $2500 + shipping that Aztek suggests.

This happened to me once before, but the lamp just needed alignment...not the case this time.

Does silverfast have a log file of errors to help make sense of the problem?

Many thanks!

The bottomline was:

Are there any know
issues with Silverfast AI and Howtek 4500 that would contribute to the
"Calibration Error F702" ?

Running xp. Scanner was working fine a
couple months ago. firmware is updated. motor starts into calibration mode
on prescan, then within seconds shuts off. similar response after scanner
goes thru softboot cycle.

Many thanks!
