Serial number not recognized

I have had SF SE version 5 as long as I have had my Epson 2450 scanner, all of a sudden it wants my serial number, but it will not recognize i. The version is no longer supported, is there anyway short of upgrading or buying a new version to get it to work again?

we do not support SilverFast 5 any more as it was released 10 Years ago, please try the Demo version of SilverFast 6.6 to see the improvements and new features we have implemented.

I realize you no longer support the program, but is there anyway to get a serial number that would let it work. It was working okay but as i said it now wants a serial number,of which I have the original, but it no longer recognizes it.

We can not provide you with a Serial number for SF5 as we have changed the way to create them years ago, sorry but we can not help you further with this issue
