Washed out colour

Did a search and didn't find anything applicable.
Just did the update to 6.6.0r3 for Studio Ai IT8 ME, for an Epson V750 Pro working on a WinXP Pro SP2 box and scanning through PS CS3. Scanning neg. film and am having an issue that has never cropped up previously. Scans are very washed out. Pre-scan previews are fine. The histogram is fine and the film is properly exposed. Scans are very washed out with the histogram skewed heavily to the right. No adjustments are being made in the scanning process.
I'm attaching a screenshot of the pre-scan preview and one of the actual scan with the Levels dialogue open to show the histogram.
