EUREKA... have found the problem.. well atleast what was causing me the problems.!. may work for you.!.
(my system is Intel iMac 24" OS 10.5.3 4gig ram)
Silverfast 6.5.5.#r# seems to incompatible with Nik CEP3 plugin folder. which I use a lot. (and had been using with other versions of silverfast up till tonight with out any problems)
some problem with photoshop tonight. would no longer run. so un-installed it, using installation disk, and re installed it. Installed the earliest 6.5 version of Silverfast i have, 6.5.5r3. and voila every thing worked perfectly. scans came up in silverfast and transfered to photoshop... Mine Gott... We have lift off...
Re installed my Genuine fractals program.. still everything worked...
re installed my Kodak GEM 2.1 professional filter. still everything worked..
BUT.. then i re installed my Nik CEP Color Efex Pro 3 filters.. And suddenly silverfast stopped working.. the penny dropped.. this was the incompatibility problem, with something that was not incompatible before... The main Nik folder has a few exec files (those funny icons that look like IBM exe programs) in the main folder...
Moved the Nik CEP folder outside of the photoshop folder, and made an alias of the CEP3Complete.plugin and put the alias into the Photoshop plug-in folder.... and Voila.. everything worked again, and all my filters and plug ins... EVERYTHING... WOW... (I would get drunk celebrating, but I dont drink. though these problem has almost driven me too...)
Bloody hell... I have been chasing my tail (i would normal say arse, but they may remove this posting if I do.. haha) for weeks because of all this... getting no where, with my business falling in tatters... and it was an incompatibility issue... something that should never have happened...
So... to the developers... please get their act together now, and solve incompatibility issues..
I live by these filters.... and the Midnight Sepia filter is worth the price alone....
now if only I can send an invoice to the silverfast development team for technical advise...!!!!!!
well you must admit it is rough when customers have to advise the developers where they have a technical problem... and all I know is photoshop..... but I can reason out problems.. if I work at it...
Now... for future support... my contact no. is........ hahahaahahahahhhaha
