New Silverfast 6.6.0r1 just as bad.. try again !!!

Hi, downloaded the new 6.6.0r1 hoping that it would fix the problems i was having with 6.5.5r5...
Wrong... just the same... can anyone get anything right.
interface window comes up, and preview does its scan..
but press scan, and it disappears not even a flicker of the scan progress window. and Photoshop get locked up. and I have to force quite it and the other SF what ever it is.....
Strangely, the scanner does its scan... but NOTHING is transfered back to photoshop...
And I have to reset the scanner then also...
They may as well give this program away, as you certainly would not want to pay for it... as i did...
Not worth the money or their time. OR MINE>>>
anyone else having the same problem out there...

It works great for me, and 6.5.5r5 did as well. Maybe you should review your setup. What scanner do you use, what platform and operating system are you running? Sometimes it is useful to rebuild your system, especially if you are running windows. If you are Mac OSX, try running Onyx to repair permissions.
My setup

Intel iMac 24", 4 gig ram. 350 gig HD. Photoshop CS3. Epson V700 scanner.
Tried everything I can do... it is back to that dam clunker Epson Scan for me... If I had known this was going to happen I would NEVER have upgraded to 6.5 silverfast...

Dear nurgle,
speaking of trying ... try to answer my emails that I keep sending to you. I am very positive that this problem is related to your setup and I will explain why:
- the software works from the launcher and you are starting the same software under PS CS3, there is only one plugin used by either PS or the launcher
- we are not able to reproduce the problem here in our lab with the exact same setup, no matter how hard we try
- you changed drive permissions via properties window of OS X(very bad idea)
Again, since you are on
Leopard I am offering you to do a live support via iChat and screensharing with you. You will have a senior LSI developer and the PM at your service.
Please let me know.
Best,
JAN
Silverfast 6.6/Photoshop CS crashing
PostPosted: Sun May 25, 2008 6:10 pm

Hi,
I have a Mac G4 Dual 500/ 1.5Gb RAM, Panther 10.3.9, epson V750 Pro/Firewire.
I upgraded to SF 6.6 from the bundled version included with the scanner (6.5).
I generally use the Import/SilverFast...command from within Photoshop CS (not CS2 or 3, but CS). Silverfast launches without any problems. I can do my prescans, adjustments, etc. then when I hit SCAN it will scan my image and upon returning to Photoshop, Photoshop crashes.
This did not occur until after the upgarde to 6.6. Any advice on how to fix this problem?
re 6.6.0r1 continuing problems

I dont know what a 'Glorified Phone Call' will do to help that email info cant.
Clearly you are not using the same set up as me, and others are having the same problem. see above, and I have even had an email from another with the same problem... Have you tried using an iMac with US or International english installed... etc.... kept updating ?? maybe we should be sorting out your problem of not using what users actualy are using...
It would be nice to use a computer in a sterile lab world only set up for one purpose, instead most computers users live in the practical world with lots of things they NEED installed. (up until now Silverfast, which I now 'need' like a hole in the head)
First you said Silverfast does not change permissions, now you say there may be a problem because I changed permissions..??? there is a contradiction there..
About my hearing.. I am not deaf, not totally yet, but my hearing loss (heavy metal poisoning. 30 years of Photographic Chemistry) was investigated for one full month (Day an night) by a team of two doctors from the famous Coclear company. (The Australian world leading maker of hearing implants for the deaf).!!! and even they could do nothing that could help me... so what use is a phone call to me ....!!!!

Dear nurgle,
Who said anything about a phone call ? I´ve had my share of heavy metal back in the days too so I would prefer iChat. It´s almost like this forum, but we can send us text based messages in real time. Plus you can share your screen with us which means we will save weeks of email correspondence in order for us to be able to reproduce your problem.
You are right, SilverFast will NOT change permissions on your drive but if the user changes permissions so that SilverFast will not be able to write it´s temporary files anymore or for Photoshop to read the image files from SilverFast.......i guess you already caught my hint.
So while there may be other users out there with the very same problem, you are the chosen one because with your cooperation we may be able to reproduce the problem here in our labs, fix it and make the solution available for the other users as well. Sandy, faith brought us together, you and me, we have a mission now which we must accept.
Awaiting your response impatiently.

I dont know if it is a work around, but a clue to the problem.
I had a problem with photoshop. Would not run... Realy puzzled.
so i un installed it, and then re installed it, and installed 6.5.5r3, and I am back in business... so to say...
so clearly you developers are not running identical systems to mine...
there is no way I will upgrade again...
