I inadvertently switched from advanced to basic and an unable to switch back, or scan at all for that matter. In "basic mode I only see the scanner window and the "picture settings" box. This picture settings box has a button to go back to advanced but clicking it does nothing.
So there is no way to go back to advanced and there is no way to scan. I have tried restarting. I have tried uninstalling (using app zapper), and reinstalling the software but it reverts to the same set up.
Im guessing that there is a preference file some where but I am unable to find it.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Dear blackbones
confirmed. There's a problem with the Basic dialogue and Leopard.
You can reset SilverFast to defaults and thus reenabling the Standard view of the SF interface by deletion of the prefs.
This can be done, because SilverFast does provide a set of secure settings.
If it does not find a "Prefs" folder when starting up, it generates a new one with these safe values.
Thus, please delete the Prefs folder (while SF isn't running) and check whether this does improve the situation.
On a typical Mac OS X installation, the SilverFast "Prefs" folder is to be found at:
/ User / (your username) / Library / Preferences / LaserSoft Imaging / SilverFast /
