LaserSoft Imaging

I have more of a question than a complaint.
If I exchange my current Epson Perfection 2400 Photo scanner for the Epson 4870 model must I purchase a new license to continue to use my
SFen-6.5.5r(Epson-SE) software? If not, how do I get my key to work with the Epson 4870 profile within SF?

Alternatively it might be legal to sell your 'old' software but living in Europe I don't know how the situation is in the USA or whether it even varies from state to state and look here, too ...
