I'm using Ai6.51r1 Studio with a Nikon LS5000 scanner and am having problems getting digital ICE to work. The setting is for negatives and film type Kodak RoyalGold 400. When I try to set for ICE standard or ICE fine, a box opens that says ICE does not work with black and white film. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Vic C
ICE not working with my Nikon LS5000

I am now having a problem opening Studio...the same problem I encountered when I first downloaded Ai6.5 last week. I had to remove it and re-download before it recognized the scanner....having the same problem again. I have used Silverfast for years with very minimal problems. Guess I'll have to take it out and reload it, again.
In response to your questions, I was getting the same behavior with other neg film types, and, I am not familiar with using Negdirect..would you fill me in.
Thanks,
Vic

Thanks very much for your help,
I somehow missed this...lots of things to learn and sometimes things slip through. I'll try it as soon as I get the program reinstalled and working again...I'm in the middle of finishing up some work and will have to rely on Nikon Scan software for now.
I am a little concerned about the issue of Studio suddenly not seeing the scanner (for the second time after working fine for awhile}. Hopefully this reinstall will hold. If you have any suggestions for that problem I would appreciate any advice you might be able to offer.
Thanks again,
Vicc

Windows or OSX ?
Which version are you using - PS plugin or twain ?
First thing to look at is if the Ai Studio update was the only change on the system. If not, could be a driver got stomped on ( common library dll usually)
Sometimes i have found that i have to remove all of NS as well as SF to get rid of driver or twain issues.
THere used to be issues with installing NS after SF since some of the libraries were slightly different.

Using OS 10.4.x on a G5 with a Nikon LS-50, I have periodically also had problems with SF not seeing the scanner. This is always resolved by some combination of hard booting the scanner, restarting the Mac, and deleting the SF preferences by holding down shift-option-SF while starting in stand-alone mode. I have not recently had to do a complete reinstall for that particular issue.
But I have also heard from LaserSoft tech support that as mentioned, there can be problems and conflicts relating to the color libraries from having Nikon Scan installed on the same partition/user account as SF.
I would also suggest doing some heavy-duty disk and system maintenance to eliminate other possible sources of trouble. I run Disk Utility, Disk Warrior, as well as a general utility like Onyx, Tiger Cache Cleaner, etc., paying particular attention to repairing permissions and deep cleaning caches.
