Working in Mac OS 9.2.2. Really like Silverfasts editing tools for negatives but...

I've spent the weekend searching this site and the web on this issue and came up with this 2005 Luminance Landscape forum discussion that seems similar-(Scroll to the bottom for the Silverfast emailed explanation):

http://luminous-landscape.com/forum/lof ... t9158.html

The only difference in my situation is I get sRGB data readouts in Silverfast in regards to hue/saturation=(intense reds/yellows get close to 250RGB) but when the final 48>24bit neg scan is viewed in the SF embedded AdobeRGB space in Photoshop these primaries shift in hue with increased saturation and don't match the preview in SF. The typical assign AdobeRGB to sRGB files preview issue.

If I assign the sRGB or monitor space the previews match SF's exactly. I have SF Colosync Internal CMS set to AdobeRGB. Selecting NONE doesn't change the preview or data even on a new prescan. It just doesn't embed the AdobeRGB profile.

I disabled Epson Scan Monitor using the Extensions Manager and rebooting and that didn't work.

One other thing I feel I need to mention is when I use EpsonScan's Colorsync dialog box in Configuration and set Target to AdobeRGB, I get a message saying it can't find AdobeRGB and will revert to some unknown default color space my guess is sRGB because previews match in PS if I assign sRGB or my monitor profile. This happens on both negatives and positives. On positives Colorsync works when I choose Joseph Holmes EktaspaceRGB as Target since that's not an Epson profile install.

What caused all that is I had trashed Epson's duplicates of AdobeRGB and its other profile installs to clear the clutter in my Colorsync folder. I never bothered to reinstall them because I don't use CM with negatives anyway since Epson scans these with sRGB data and previews also and I was told by CM experts that Epson scans negatives in the sRGB space and disregards Colosync settings anyway.

Is this so with Silverfast as well? I have a feeling I just answered my own question, but would like a confirmation to put me out of my misery.

Thank you for your help on this.

Here's a screenshot of the kind of previews I'm getting. The one on the left is viewed in Photoshop with the Silverfast embedded AdobeRGB profile.
