version 6.5 auto frame detect 35mm film not detected

I have just reinstalled SE Plus trial version 6.5 to correct a problem with the colour of the preview pane. I am using this trial version and attempted to detect the frames on 35mm film several times. At present I am unable to do so. I get the whole strip detected as one frame including backing and perforations.

SE Plus 6.5 trial
Epson perfection 4870 photo scanner
35mm negative colour film.

Is there a method of making this work? or
Will there be an update?

I must add that earlier before I reinstalled Silverfast SE plus trial version 6.5 to correct another problem, I did have some success with this feature, with most images detected correctly apparently under the same conditions.

There will be an update comig within the next few weeks, which greatly improves the frame detection function. Please keep an eye on our version history:

Well, r5 is now released and the list of improvement doesn't include anything about improving auto frame detect :(
Is that just an oversight and auto frame detect has been improved????????

Dear Mike,

yes, in r5 we have improved auto frame detection functionality for 35mm film stripes and
5x5cm dia frames. Additionally, in SE Plus and Ai Studio versions these frames will automatically be rotated to be horizontally aligned.

Finding frames is not yet completely optimized for using with film holders, but is already improved.
At this moment best results can be produced for scans without such holders.
