speed issue with canon 8400f

Hi!

Since approximately two weeks I have massive speed problems with my Canon 8400f and silverfast se. Usualy the scan of a 35mm black and white negative at 2400dpi took about two minutes. Now it takes about 4 Minutes. Also the sound while scanning is now essentially lower. I don't use SRD, only the pure scan. I tried the "fast scan" option but it improved this situation not.
So i thought maybe I have a problem with my usb/chipset driver. But when I did a testscan with the original Canon Scansoftware and the same parameters there where no problems and the scan took 2 minutes. Regardless of this I have installed new mainboard drivers - but there is still the same problem.
Removing and reinstalling Silverfast wasn't of use, so I installed my computer completly new. In an early test it worked fine but when i finished installing software took again double scan time.

I hope anyone has a tip or solution for me.

regards,
Christian

Dear Christian

I got you right that a complete re-install solved the problem for once, but then the issue re-appeared?

If so, please try if deleting the "LaserSoft Imaging" folder (while SF isn't running) and check whether this does improve the situation.

On a typical Windows XP installation, the folder is to be found at:
C: \ Documents and Settings \ (your username) \ Application Data \

On a typical Mac OS X installation, the SilverFast "Prefs" folder is to be found at:
/ User / (your username) / Library / Preferences /

SilverFast does provide a set of secure settings. If it does not find that folder when starting up, it generates a new one with these safe values.

If you haven't already done, I suggest you want to download and install the latest update release of your version of SilverFast from our website. You might experience that this already does solve your problem.

If not, please don't hesitate to contact support: https://www.silverfast.com/problemreport/en.html
