I found:

*Button "Einschalten Automatische Lampenhelligkeit (switch on automatic lamp brightniess)" is not switchable in Mac-Verion, on Windows it is.

*Button in Options Tab Auto "Farbstichentfernung aktiv (Color pass elimination activ)", if checked, the Button "Bildautomatik (Licht- Tiefen- Mittenoptimierung (Picture-Automatic) should be uncolored, in Mac it is colored, but should be grey. Colored means the Color pass will not be eliminated. The checked checkbox says eliminate Color pass. On PC/Windows it is correct.

*AACO is working fine, if ckecked. If you do some adustements you can see it in preview-Window. If you close the small aaco-Window, leave the aaco-Option switched on, the preview will display after that the picture with aaco not set. Endscanns with aaco are working fine. In Window or PC it will work correct.

*Text in Prograss bar at scanning the Endscan displays: "RGB: Staub- /". The Rest of the text is missing. On Windows it is correct.

*Preview-Window are sometimes highlighted, sometimes not. SF-AI is toggeling the highlighted previewframe sometimes by random on Ai-Studio mac. Clicking in "option->Allgemein (general)->Previewbrightness" will give the preview the correct look. A view minutes later if you do some clicks etc. in some menues, it is randomly not brightened ore darken ore nothing. On Windows it is correct.


SF-Studio is always not scanning the last page on my Epson GT-30000 Scanner when the duplexer of the epson is worken und duplex-Scan-mode. SF plays finished sound, but in the scanner it has forgotten to scann the last side.

Does somebody found more Bugs and Missfeatures in the Macintosh-Versions of SF AI? I think, the Version for PC/Windows have less bugs than the macintosh-Version.

I use SF-AI-Studio f?r Nikon 5000 ED and Epson GT-30000. I thing both versions are buggy.

thanks for your input. Some things might need clarification, though.

(1) Automatische Lampenhelligkeit
Is this about the version for the Nikon or the Epson scanner?

(2) Farbstichentfernung aktiv / display of button Bildautomatik
How the button for the image automatic looked depended intentionally on the scan mode (calibrated/profiled scan vs. unprofiled scan) and had only become to look identical in all circumstances in the very last version (6.4.3r9) of SilverFast.

(3) The general preview window is intended to only show the AACO settings while the AACO dialogue is still open.
This is done for reasons of speed.
However, as we're improving routines, we're planning to have the impact of AACO shown generally in the preview window.

(4) I will have our testing center check this out.

(5) Preview window highlighting
Can you please provide a short step-by-step guideline how to reproduce the phenomenon. I couldn't do this with my installation on a first try.

(6) Did we say we're supporting that duplex unit?

Hi Mr Noack,

(1) is version for Nikon scanner

(2) (Version for Nikon) You are right, the look of the picture automatic depends on scan mode, my scanmode is: calibrated and profiled. Button have to look colored with a "c" in it if the automatic is not allowed to adjust "Farbstich/Color pass", right? Ok, make a checkmark to the field "Farbstichentfernung" that you can find under "options->Auto->Farbstichentfernung-100%". (Click ok) Now the button "picture Automatic" should be gray bescause we have allowed the picture automatic to do 100% Farbstichentfernung... The button Picture Automatic is still colored, saying that he will not do any "Farbstichentfernung"... But in options->Auto->Farbstichentfernung, we have said, please do a 100% Farbstichentfernung...

I think that the Button did not show the right status.

BTW: In SF for epson (calibrated with profiled scan), it woks as it is described in manual, in SF nikon on Mac it shows the wrong icon, in SF nikon for PC it works fine as it is described in manual.

SF Nikon is 6.4.3r9, even on mac and on my testinstallation on PC/Win, dito SF Epson is 6.4.3r9 too, SF Epson and SF Nikon PC do the same icon in the same situation, SF Nikon Mac do another icon in the same situation....

(3) ?!?
If the window AACO is open, the processing for aaco is made; ok, i will wait a second... Then preview displays the result, AACO has done his work. Why is rejecting the result faster than to leave the result in the preview? The work for AACO is done by opening the dialogue, closing the dialogue have nothing to compute because AACO-computing was completed 100% bei opening the dialogue...

I hope, you are at SF are planning to do ICE too in preview-Mode not only AACO? (Nikon Software do a complete ICE with all options etc. in the preview, i think this is great feature. (Users with slower machins can switch ICE etc. in preview-Mode off.)) I think it will be great if SF have the same possibilities.

(4) Fine!

(5) Hm... not really... Sometimes it toggles and sometimes not. At this moment, i can not repruduce the situation by doing step 1, then step 2 and so on. Sometimes it toggels and sometimes not. I dont know how to reproduce that.... Sometimes i make a scan and it toogles by itself to darken or bright and later i do the same and it did not toggel. I will observe this and maybe i find a way to repruduce it by doing step 1 and step 2 and so on.

(6) No you didn`t say that... But SF was trying to support the ADF because Ai Studio knows to handle the unit and knows about single and duplex mode of the feeder and so on. That assume me, that the programming team at SF was trying to support the unit.

I only make a hint to you that the ADF for Epson in duplex is working perfect on all pages but faulty on last page, maybe your team will fix that, maybe not.

I know that nobody at sf said "SF support the ADF feeder-unit on epson GT-30000" but your programming team has done about 99% of work to support it, maybe they will do a bugfix so that it will run perfect on all pages, maybe not, dont know.

I have only done a hint, not more.

If SF is not fixing the Problem the duplexer is working faulty on last page in duplex-mode as it is and was, thats all... Nobody said, SF supports the ADF, so i see it as a bonus-feature if it will work perfect, if not, than not.

(1) shall be examined

(2) there's a second possibility to activate the colour cast correction: please checkout the histogramme.
The options > auto > CCR enabled and percentage just tells SF how to act on a click of the image automatic feature button.

(3) This isn't about AACO alone, but AACO in connection with all the others settings of the various tools. However, as stated before, this is bound to change as speed for AACO algorithm will steadily improve.

(6) We are awaiting some extra information from Epson which might help us out on the last percent...
