LaserSoft Imaging

Trying to use SilverFast with my OCR program (Omnipage) causes a crash. Is it a "no-no" to use with OCR?

SilverFast Ai and OCR software

SilverFast Ai was not designed to support OCR software. You can always scan with SilverFast Ai into a 300 dpi grayscale scan and save as Tif-file which is normally sufficient to then load into OCR software.
