Can't open 16 Bit Grayscale in PS3 after scanning with AI

I scanned several archival photos using AI and chosing 16 Bit Grayscale. the pre-scan and scanned images came up looking great on AI, howver, when I tried to open them in PS3 (for the Mac) I got a message saying that the file was a JPG (yes, correct) of unsupported precision. Any way to change the file, short of re-scanning the photos?

With thanks,

Paul

pchattey,

Did you check the output file size? Maybe your computer does not have enough memory to open the final picture in PS3. As a test you might try scanning one of the picuters as an 8-bit Grayscale image or just change the output size so your file size is no more than 10MB.

Dear Paul.

I think you have selected JPeg as the output file type. However, there aren?t many applications who can open 16-bit JPeg files. If you need 16-bit on output, you should select Tiff as the output file type.

You need either to rescan your pictures into Tiff files or to convert them. SilverFast HDR can read 16-bit JPeg files and save them into Tiffs. Please try the free demo.
