Silverfast & Circon: Cannot Send Gradation Tables

Just the latest episode in the trials and tribulations of moving our
production department from OS 9 to OS X.

This one's a scanner issue. Here's the setup:

PowerMac G5 DP 2.5 GHz
Linotype Circon scanner (ELS5000) firmware 0107
ATTO Express PCI UL3S-66 SCSI Card
SilverFast ai 6.2.1r4

I can do a preview scan, select the image area I want scanned, and do
pre-scan manipulations. When I click the scan button, the scanner acts
like it has scanned the image, but I get the following error:

An error occurred at the start of Image processing: Cannot send
gradation tables.

I was hoping that maybe someone else had this problem and knew how to fix it. Thanks!

Ken

Dear kkirsey

IMHO this problem does indeed occur with some firmware version of linotype XL scanners. Please update to 6.2.2r2 (deleting the prior version) which shall be out shortly, which should remedy this problem.

However, if the problem persists, please don't hesitate to contact LaserSoft Imaging support staff: https://www.silverfast.com/problemreport/en.html
I would appreciate if you could paste a fresh copy of the SF_Logfile in the problem report.
Thanks in advance for your co-operation.

Kind regards,

Can you define "shortly?" If it's not in the next day or so, I'll need to dig out one of our old G4s and install the Linocolor software on it so our production department can scan, as we have a magazine due out on Friday.

I downloaded and installed 6.2.2r1. I can do a preview scan, select the image, and click the scan button. When I do that, Silverfast hangs on "RBB-Preparing scan" with the spinning beachball, and the display on the Circon alternates between "Self Check" and "Linotype CPS Circon V01.00".

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Dear Ken

we usually have a minor release update (such as from 6.2.2r1 to 6.2.2r2) once a week.
