Apply same settings on multiple frames (SiverFast SE)

Hi,

I'm really struggling to get SilverFast SE to apply the same settings to scans of different frames. Specifically I'm trying to scan the left and right hand sides of a XPan 35mm panoramic and want all settings to be the same when scanning both sides.

Here is my workflow:
1. Prescan the left hand side frame, with automatic exposure and image-automatic.
2. Save the settings, from the General tab of the Options dialog.
3. Perform scan.
4. Prescan the right hand side frame.
5. Reselect the settings saved in step 2.
6. Perform scan.

If I now compare the colours in the ajoining edges of the two scans the colours are very different, when I would expect them to be the same. What am I doing wrong?

My setup:
OS X 10.3.1
Photoshop 7.0
SilverFast SE 6.1.0r4
Nikon Coolscan III
Positive slide.

Regards

Steve

Try doing the scans full manual, stitch then together (if that is what you intended), and then color correct the overall image. Otherwise, apply the same actions on each image separately.

Thanks for the reply, but it's not really much help. My problem is that I can't get Silverfast SE to scan the two halfs of the frame using the same settings. Something like the exposure is changing between the two scans.

It would be great if I could get Silverfast to optimise for the more important half and apply the same settings when scanning the other half. However I would settle for it making no colour correction changes and just making best use of the 10-bit data it can get from the scanner, but I can't even get it to do that.

Regards

Steve

SilverFast and Productivity

Dear Steve,

you are looking for productivity, which is not what SilverFast SE is designed for because it would overwhelm the entry level user.

SilverFast Ai is what you should look at, which has all what you desire for and more. There is an upgrade path to SilverFast Ai! Download and try the demo to get the idea!

best regards
