LaserSoft Imaging

when silverfast ae5.5 is opened by photoshop elements,,,the large panel(with all the prescan/scan, quit, etc) that has all the settings, opens at the very top of my screen so that the title bar is off the screen page. because of this, i cannot move it. there has been a few times when the scan window was BEHIND the control panel and i could not get to it.

i haven't figured a way to resolve this, as i would figget around until i could see part of the scan window, then move it. you can imagine that this causes me no end of nervousness.

changing the screen resolution doesn't help.....the control panel still opens with its title bar out of sight.

any solutions? thanks

Go to

c:\program files\adobe\Photoshop Elements\plugins\import-export\Silverfast


and delete the "prefs"- folder in there. This should re-set the window position as well. If there is still a problem, please let me know which screen resolution you use. 640x480 would definitely be too little. 800x600 should work fine. 1024x764 or higher is best.

there is no silverfast folder there.

there is one in windows\twain32\lasersoft\prefs

in \prefs, there are

\desktop.ini
\prefsfolder.ico
\sf(epson gt-9700).prf
\sfapp(epson).prf

silverfast and adobe came with my epson 2450 scanner. i do not remember if the install gave me an option of twain or plug-in or if there is even such an option, but it appears that this lasersoft is twain.

. lasersoft tech supp. told me,,in an unrelated issue(i wanted to download an upgrade to 6), that the plug-in is more stable than the twain.
