Cannot import color negative without orange mask

I purchased SilverFast Ai v6.0 to use as a plug-in to Photoshop 7 to help me create prints from color negatives. Despite spending more than 8 hours trying to do the above, I still cannot get my images to display in Photoshop without the orange mask characteristic of color negatives. I have the Pos/Neg correctly set to Negative and the SilverFast prescan displays the image properly (that is without the orange negative) , but as soon as I have SilverFast do the final scan causing Photoshop to begin the import process, the imported image looks like a typical orange colored negative.

This seems like a no-brainer but apparently my brain is not working. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks,

Probably you set the Image Mode to "48 Bit HDR Colour". In that mode you really get the raw data from the scanner - no conversion from negative to positive takes place. You should use the modes "48 Bit Colour" or "48->24 Bit Colour" to get positive images from your negatives.
The HDR mode is intended for getting the uncorrected raw data from the scanner and post process it later with e.g. SilverFast HDR.

Thanks Ralf. You are right. I did have the HDR mode set. After changing to 36->24 Bit Colour I was able to import the image perfectly.

Thanks again,
