problem with serial number recognition for MAC upgrade

I have the Epson V700 which I previously used with a PC. The version is 6.6 but it would not work with the Mini Mac I later purchased. I am now running the Mac with Yosemite 10.10. I believe the newest versions are Mac compatiable but when I check for an upgrade for my 6.6 Silverfast it says it does not recognise my serial number. Does this mean my only option is to 'repurchase' the Silverfast software despite being obsolete when I moved from a PC?
Thanks CtYank

Dear CtYank,
SilverFast 6.6 is only supported up to OS X
10.6.
For newer operating systems you need an
upgrade to our latest version
SilverFast 8.
You can
purchase the
upgrade through our website's
shop.
There you can enter your SilverFast 6.6 serial for a discount.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

I have attempted to download the demo version as recommended. I have been issued with a demo registration number and then have confirmed that info but each time I put in the Demo serial number it goes back to the Demo option again and says I must reregister and only gives me the option of another Demo license. It does not recognise the licence I had formerly for the 6.6 version I was using on the old PC and was not compatiable with my new Mac.
How can I trial the new version as recommended if I can't get that far.
Hoping someone has some ideas to help!
CtYank

Dear CtYank,
In case the unlock button does not become active, please make sure that your scanner is shown in the image source.
Please also check that you enter the first and last name as given in our e-mail.
In case your name contains any special characters they might have to be replaced with a plain letter.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
