Opening .tif files with Silver Efex

I save my scanned images in the .tif format and import in Aperture (Mac with Mavericks).
When I try to open with Silver Efex pro plugin (or any other Nik product) i get a "Unsupported image format" message.
What I have to do is export from Aperture in .tiff format and reimport. Then everything works.
Is there a simplest solution?

Dear customer,

Maybe the plugin can not handle multi-layer tiffs.
Try deactivating the HiRePP function in the SilverFast preferences' special tab.

Kind regards,

Thank you for your answer.
I tried, but it didn't work.
Could it be (forgive me for the probably stupid question) a CMS setting problem?
Regards
Vincenzo

Dear Vincenzo,

I suggest you ask NIK about the error.
Maybe they can tell you which limitations the tool has.
It could be that it requires a certain colorspace, but I can not answer that.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Hi Vincenzo,

I just noticed your post one here. I was the former webinar trainer for Nik Software and I think I had ran into the same problem with my B&W scans. What I was doing was scanning as a Greyscale image and then trying to open them into Photoshop then into Nik SEP2… No avail…

Here is the solution:

1. With the file that won't open in Nik open
2. Go to the Photoshop > "Mode" drop down menu
3. Change "Greyscale" to "RGB"
4. Open the Nik Tool (SEP2, CEP4, etc…)
