Monaco/XRite/PowerPC/Calibration Frustration

I just got an Epson 750 Pro. The software I received from Epson includes Silverfast, which I already own and love. It also includes XRite EZColor, which apparently cannot be installed on my non-PowerPC Power Mac. I'd like to use the XRite-provided targets to do the calibration from within Silverfast, but apparently XRite doesn't provide the text versions of their profiles which SilverFast requires.

Do I have this right? (It took me a couple of hours to figure things out to this point.)

If so, is my only solution to purchase new targets?

Carolyn

Dear Carolyn,

SilverFast requires a cleartext (.txt) reference file for calibration.

Unfortunately some targets by other manufacturers are shipped with a proprietary file only usable with their own software.

In case you can not acquire a cleartext reference file purchasing a compatible IT8 target will be the only way to calibrate using SilverFast.
Our own targets are available here in our online store.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Thank you for your clarification.

Sure is annoying to have to pay ~$200 for duplicates of something that is included with the purchase.

Dear Carolyn,

Unfortunately we have no influence over the materials within the packages EPSON sells.
They decide which targets and software they sell with their scanners.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
