share NegaFix profiles?

I am wondering if it is possible to share NegaFix profiles? NegaFix module has a lot of predefined profiles but also ... a lot are missing for color as well as B/W films. If possible - do you know a place with collection of user defined profiles?

Dear Big_Lynx

Every scanner sees films in a different way. Hence there is a different NegaFix profile set for every scanner model.
It means you can only use Profiles created by other users on the same scanner model you are planning to work with.

Other thing worth mentioning is that you can not get those profiles individually but only the complete set. So if you plan to use sets from different users you can not combine them. For those cases you should have a back up folder where you place the sets you are interested in using.

NegaFix film sets are found at the following directories:

Macintosh: "OSX/users/your name/Library/Preferences/LaserSoft Imaging/SilverFast/NegaFix"

Windows 2000/XP: "C:\Documents and Settings\[your username]\Application Data\ Lasersoft Imaging\SilverFast\NegaFix"
Windows Vista/7: "C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\ Lasersoft Imaging\SilverFast\NegaFix"

Kind Regards

Alejandro, would LaserSoft consider developing this feature more to enable SilverFast users to share NF profiles more easily? I see this as an area where users could really enhance the value of that feature in a way that LaserSoft might not have the resources to do.

I can see a few ways that might be possible - including breaking up the NF profile data format into individual profiles (to make it easier to share specific films rather than a complete set), or even providing a space for users to upload profiles sorted by scanner model.

that is obvious. Profile is assigned to specific film and scanner

that is what I did not expect and frankly speaking puts significant boundaries on community of SilverFast users. Software should have feature allowing to export particular, single profile (with information about film and scanner) to a file and possibility to import it on different system by different user. Range of unsupported by NegaFIx films is quite big especially when considering B/W products and user community may put improvement on this lack very fast ... but we need a tool.

We are aware of this possibility, it is not the first time people has make such a proposal and it has been included on the wish list for a future version of the program.

In the meantime the only option is to use the workaround I have mentioned.

Thanks for your contributions but specially, thanks for your understanding and patience.
