I have problems with B&W negatives scanned
with the Epson 2450.

Film: Agfa APX 100, 4"x5"

I have on a test negative 8 areas with
different densities.
Field 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
D= 0,07 0,17 0,33 0,55 0,75 1,02 1,22 1,42

When I scan it in SF, level 6 and 7 are
nearly both white.
I have choosen Ilford FP4 as film. Other
selection did not improve the results.

I get the following K values out of a
16 bit scan in photoshop

Field 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
2% 3% 5% 19% 49% 76% 88% 93%

With the EPSON Twain driver I get

Field 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
11% 22% 36% 56% 68% 80% 89% 93%

After simple Autolevel in Photoshop

Field 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
2% 14% 31% 55% 70% 85% 93% 99%

This show much better seperation between
Field 0 and 1

With the manuel editing of the film curve
I could not realy get it better. The
definition of the black and white point
did not show results on the screen (beside
grey rectange artefacts on the negafix
window)

Has somebody got good results with B&W
films and special with the AGFA APX 100?

How is it possible to improve the results
with SF?
