Negafix Profiles for Kodacolor CII

I've got some older Kodak film from the late 70's and 80's. It is Kodak Safety Film 5035, which I've determined is Kodacolor CII. I've looked to no avail to find a negafix profile for this film, which I understand was a very popular film in its day.

I would love to create my own profile, but I don't have Silverfast AI, just SE.

I've found Kodak Gold 200 with a little bump in saturation to be my best profile, but is there any way to get a negafix profile specific to this Kodacolor film?

Thanks for any help.

Nathan

Dear Nathan,

Unfortunately there is not chance to do this profile here, for creating this NegaFix profiles we use special targets created to calibrate industrial developers and enlargers.

The film emulsion in question is not available in their stock. All available emulsions are already included in SilverFast.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply. If I understand correctly, is it possible to use AI to make new negafix profiles? It would be awesome if there was a way for people to create negafix profiles and share them with other users, so those of us without AI could benefit.

But then my question is, if people can create negafix profiles using AI....why can't silverfast?

Thanks very much for the help.

Yes, that's right, it is possible to modify existing NegaFix profiles to use with a different emulsion, those modified profiles can be saved with any name as a new profile.

As a matter of fact it is possible to interchange profiles. If users want to switch generated profiles they gotta have in mind a couple of things:

The profiles generated for one scanner model can NOT be used with a different scanner model, even if those scanners come from the same manufacturer.

Users accepting new profiles have no way to know if the profile in question was indeed generated using the emulsion in question, and whether the image used to generate that profile was correctly exposed (perfect light for the emulsion in question ) and developed (using a standard procedure). There might also be another issues with emulsions which has 2 or three generations (but the same name).

For the reasons exposed above LaserSoft Imaging can not provide with any support for problems generated by those profiles.

Apart from the reasons already exposed. We create our profiles from scratch using special calibration targets. Those targets have been created under controlled conditions. The company that creates those targets does not have any other emulsions available at the moment than those present in SilverFast.

Cheers

Nathan,
I too find myself working on "kodacolor safety film" and am in your same predicament. I was wondering if you did make a custom profile. I am using HDR Studio and have a plustek 7600i scanner for negatives and slides. I also have an epson V750 scanner that can be used for negatives and slides. I am probably more interested in how you created a profile if you did get to that point.
