Coincidentally, I am having the exact same problem. By any chance did this happen because of installing SilverFast's latest update? Mine was working perfectly until I downloaded and installed version 6.4.4r7a over my existing 6.4.4r2 - and in the exact same time frame as you.
There is a workaround listed a little lower in this subject category called Negafix Profiles Missing. But it involves trashing the existing pref files to force SilverFast to reboot the Nega Fix section. But be careful, because in doing so, IT WILL DELETE ALL OF YOUR CUSTOM SETTINGS. I'm going to try it myself, but I will save the old pref file so I can reinstall it to retain all of my custom settings.
For as well thought out a program SilverFast is, I think this is one area that needs immediate attention. There is definitely a bug in this system.
This may not be much help, other than to know you're not alone.

Any idea how and where to give the paths to the profile file
Thanks
How to Fix Missing NegaFix Profiles

Here is something for you to try:
You and I are using almost identical systems and printers, so this should work for you, too.
I moved my LaserSoft Imaging folder from my Preferences folder into a new folder on my desktop - named Safety (doesn't matter what you name it). DO NOT TRASH THIS FILE.
I launched the SF Launcher stand alone program (Instead of through PhotosShop) and sure enough, all of the NegaFix items were back in place and I could scan negative film. REMEMBER, AS STATED IN THE POSTING EARLIER IN THIS SECTION, YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR CUSTOM SETTINGS. But fear not...
Then, for a test, I shut down SilverFast and opened BOTH the NEW LaserSoft Imaging folder in my Preferences folder and my Safety folder with the old preferences in it. The next part is critical:
1) In the Prefs Folder: LaserSoft Imaging>SilverFast>Prefs:
COPY (DO NOT JUST MOVE) your old prefs files (should be two or three) from your saved folder into the new Prefs folder.
2) Relaunch SilverFast. In my particular case, not only did the NegaFix elements stay, but all my old custom settings are back as well. When I select one of my custom settings for negative film, the NegaFix window changes its settings as it used to.
This may or may not work for you. If it doesn't, or your NegaFix elements disappear again, you can trash that folder from your Preferences folder and restart SilverFast to regain the NegaFix items, while losing any custom settings. DO NOT COPY OVER THE FILES YOU PUT IN THE SAFETY FOLDER OR YOU'LL FOREVER LOSE YOUR CUSTOM SETTINGS.
Hopefully you will also have success with this.

Mine self extracted without problem, using Stuffit Expander, available for free download here:
http://www.stuffit-expander.com/stuffit ... 2#expander
That extracted into the installer app that I just double clicked onto. It did the rest as far as installing everything where it needed to go.
Read that posting a few spots down from your original, and then study the workaround I just posted in reply to your question. That should explain the paths of where to find the files you need to work with.
Best,
Greg

Hey buddy thanks a lot for the quick reply. i managed to update the software.
The basic problem with the negafix is that there were no profiles showing right from the begning. only the option of delete and import. i read on the site that i can copy the profiles from the cd to the desktop and in the import option to give the new path. but when i do that it dosnt take the path.
are the profiles in the text format???
i havereloaded the software but nothing happens. also when i scan with the option of REFLECTIVE and NEGATIVE i get a black screen.
if i use TRANSPERANCY and POSITIVE it scans the exact negative with the brown mask.
if i use the EPSON scan the negative scanning is proper but there is a lot of noise in the scan. thats why i wanted to use the SF with the GAIN facality to reduce the noise.
i think the Profiles are not loaded through the cd....is there any other way???

My pleasure.
Man, I don't think I can help you beyond this. I am as baffled as you are. I think everything originally loaded for me when I first installed from the CD - I don't recall there being anything separate for NegaFix, or that I had to think about what was being installed...it just did its thing. And I don't know where or in what format the profiles are - sorry.
You probably will get a black screen by mixing reflective and negative since that's just to be used to scan positive items like photographic prints. And for negatives you have to use the Transparency/Negative setting.
I agree with you regarding the Epson Scan - it's really lacking.
I honestly cannot think of any other way to get the profiles to show up, short of trying again to do a fresh install from the original CD, while first saving your original preferences for safety, then open the program to see if NegaFix items show up...then run the update program again. Unfortunately that's the extent of my knowledge of what may be needed.
Wishing you the best of luck,
Greg

Hey Greg
All of a sudden the problem is solved. I did what you suggested at the end. i deleted all the files and reloaded silverfast. but this time i forgot to eject the cd. and guess what all the profiles were there. and loaded. i am not sure whether it is because of reloading the software or keeping the cd in.
i had checked the cd. there is a folder of profiles there may be the path is linked to the cd.
anyways thanks again for all the help and advice. its working now
chow!!

That's great news! And you never know how things are going to fix themselves, computers being computers.
Best,
