Old Kodak B&W Negatives

I am embarking on a project to scan all my old (most 40-50+ years old) negatives. About all I know is they are Kodak negatives. What is the best profile to use for this old film? Also, is there a recommended method to get the best scans from these negatives?
Thanks

Dear John3:16

not knowing what profile to apply will leave you with the well tried trial-and-error methodology

Please note that you could use a profile as a point from where to start of your adjustments and modify it. If this sounds interesting, you want to use the enhanced Negafix dialogue by clicking on the expert icon (not present in SilverFast SE).
After developing your own profile you can save it and import it lateron to another computer, if you like.

You will find a guide to the Negafix tool in PDF format here:
https://www.silverfast.com/show/negafix/en.html

A valuable read is the SilverFast Negafix tutorial in Ian Lyon's Computer Darkroom:

If you would like to have the Negafix workflow presented in a movie, you're in the luck, too:
