Nega Fix Exposure Problems

I am scanning color negatives with the SilverFast 6 full version (latest updated release) for the Epson 3200 scanner. I am scanning Kodak Gold 200 negatives and have to set the slider to -3 and the image still looks to bright. The negatives look ok relative to exposure. What's the problem? What can I do so the exposure is ok with the slider set to zero?

Try this: undo the auto correction in SilverFast (or draw a new scan frame) and try again.

I tried both the undo the autoexposure and also draw a new frame. Neither of these resolve the issue. Even with the slider set at -3, the image is too bright.
