hi everybody...

having read a few posts here I hope that someone can help - this problem is driving me crazy...

OK. I scan using an UMAX Powerlook 2100xl (A3 flatbed+transparency attachment)... I have Ai 5.5.3r20... cms settings are as advised by lasersoft. (none, auto, rgb; none, none, adobe RGB 1998, none, perceptual...) - I use either 42-24bit or HDR 48bit - depends on image size and needs...

altho' I first installed the update some months ago I did'nt scan any negs until now... I was trying to scan 6x6 kodak 160 portra... the (cropped) prescan looked great and the first 4 scans were only in need of slight adjustments later in photoshop 5.5... on negative 5 (after the scanner had been switched off and then later restarted) the prescan looked good - but the result (including the thumbnail that you see while the scan is being made) was BLUE... no matter what I tried the result did not change... I was starting to go crazy and tried reinstalling the software (which runs on a G3 Mac with 9.2.2) but this made no difference... my natural instinct would be to try the newest version but after reading here I think the problems are maybe not yet solved...

HELP!!!

I am otherwise very happy with silverfast - hence my disappointment... and I hate wasting so much time... oh and by the way - IT8 calibration is'nt accidently running - I earn my living with my software and understand its basic needs!

:( :( :(

I can't find a newer update than 5.5.3r20 or is there something to give me hope before I switch to another software for good?

dear Chris,
do this:
in the SilverFast Ai window you can see some command buttons just below the logo "SilverFast Ai".
condition one: when button 3 and 4 have a different colour then the rest, press'n hold the ALT-key on your keyboard and click on button 2.
(preview will change)
release ALT-key and click on button 2 again - preview better than before?
Yes = scan
no = repeart ALT-key, button2 combination.

condition two: all buttons have the same color.
Click on button 2 (prescan will change).
preview better than before?
Yes = scan
no = hold ALT-key and click button2 again.

I have a similar problem with Epson Perf2450 V6.2.1r5 in Photoshop CS on a PC. When I set the bounding box around the selected frame (Kodak Royal Gold 400) the color is reasonably close to correct. But if I click on the magnifying glass to zoom in and fine-tune the bounding box the image turns blue...as if the program is removing the orange mask again. Once this happens there is no way (i.e., holding ALT and clicking the buttons above SilverFast) to restore the image to its previous colors. What gives and how can I work around this?
