LaserSoft Imaging

Scanning Tri-X Nikon 4000ed Silverfast 6. I had been scanning 48 bit RGB and using Photoshop 7 to invert. Channel mixer to convert to B+W.
Is it better to scan in grayscale using Negafix. Will I get maximum info from the scan this way or is it a smaller file having lost useful info. Any ideas?

You'll loose information in the final file (8bit file) of course.

Are you saying one should scan as color film, when doing B&W scans?
