Achieving accurate color reproduction with ORWO color slides

Hi!

I have a lot of old (1980s) ORWO Orwochrom slides to scan (they were produced in Eastern Germany). Since this is an old material, there are no IT8 targets available. My question is: how to achieve an accurate color reproduction when scanning these transparencies (they are different from contemporary E6 materials)? Are here any users who have experience in scanning ORWO sildes?
I would be very grateful for any advice.

Best regards,
Mike

Dear Mike,

The IT8 calibration is a hardware function and not bound to a certain film material.
You can use any transparent IT8 target.
Only the Kodachrome target is an exaption specially made for Kodachrome film.

Dear Arne,

thanks very much for your answer. You really surprised me - so far I thought that IT8 calibration is all about differences in emulsions / film material.
But why there are different IT8 targets for Kodak and Fuji transparencies?
I am also wondering if ORWOChroms have a similar problem like Kodachromes (color cast). Anyone can comment on that? If I recall correctly, they used a different process than contemporary E6 (probably a proprietary one).
I have a large collection to scan, so I want to get it right:)

Best regards,
Mike

The Kodak and Fuji films are simply two different materials we use for production.
The Kodak targets are in limited supply now as Kodak no longer manufacturers the necessary material.

Sorry I do not know ORWOChroms.
But the Kodachrome mode can be used for any film material which develops a strong blue cast.
I have also scanned AGFA and Fuji films using that mode, as these images too showed a strong blue cast.

That explains (and helps) a lot. Thanks!
