SilverFast Photoshop plugin for CS5?

Greetings,

I just upgraded to Photoshop CS5 on my Mac, and the Silverfast Plugin doesn't seem to be working anymore. I tried reinstalling from the latest installer (6.6.1r7) and I do see "SilverFast (Epson-SE).plugin" under /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS5/Plug-Ins/Import-Export/, but it doesn't appear to be picked up by CS5 Automatically. I haven't tried manually dragging it into the Photoshop Plugins directory or anything like that yet, but I thought I'd mention the issue so you can investigate and perhaps update the installers and/or plugin for all your products if needs be.

Best,

-Darrin

Dear Darrin,

Thanks for your contribution, as a matter of fact we also detected this at the beginning of the week and are already working on a solution for this.

In the meantime I advise you to use SilverFast as a standalone program.

Cheers

Greetings,

After some additional investigation and experimentation, I have discovered that the SilverFast plugin is installing correctly, but the problem seems to be that the plugin is 32-bit while Photoshop CS5 is now 64-bit. If you force Photoshop to load in 32-bit mode, the plugin is recognized as it was with CS4/CS3.

Working standalone or forcing PS to 32-bit for scanning are good interim options to get back to work, but a new 64-bit compatible plugin will probably be required to remedy this long term for CS5.

Thanks,

-Darrin

I have experienced the same problem with the 32 bit plug-in for my Epson Perfection 4990 scanner. When will the updated plugin be available?

As the previous user correctly states, photoshop should be started in 32 bit mode to be able to work with SilverFast (an other plugins) from within photoshop. The reason for this is that Adobe has not documented the creation for compatible plugins with CS5 yet.

When this will be available is hard to say cause it does not entirely depend on LaserSoft Imaging.
