Hello, SilverFast does not see the scanner. Nikon Scan 4.0.2 does recognize the scanner. No imaging devices (webcams, printers, iPods/iPhones, other scanners) are connected to the computer and computer was rebooted. Device manager and similar utilities also show that no drivers for webcams or similar imaging devices are loaded. Yet, the support file generated by SilverFast mentions HP printer, Canoscan and few other devices that are not connected.
Unfortunately, email response from tech support ignores the discrepancy between what devices SilverFast discovers and what is actually connected and what drivers are loaded. The response was very generic: "The Scanner should be detected if current drivers are installed and no other devices disturb the recognition."
Does anybody now how to make Silverfast app recognize the scanner?

Dear vad
Did the scanner worked with previous versions of SilverFast? Did the problem appear after you have installed any updates?
Cheers

No, I did not use SilverFast and Nikon 9000 before, so, unfortunatelly I cannot give you a "diff" between what was then and now. The WinXP installation is up-to-date, that is all available updates by MS are installed. The most confusing part of the problem that "device manager" shows no "imaging devices", so there is nothing to turn off or disable( yet SilverFast's log shows Canon scanner and HP printer). Could it be that SilverFast not only looks for "imaging devices" but also for certain daemons/services running on the box?

Dear Vad,
SilverFast looks for installed drivers of any devices you have used with your computer (whether they are or not connected).
If the "Device Manager" does not see your scanner connected, then it is also impossible for SlverFast to see the scanner.
Please make sure you reinstall the drivers of the scanner and SilverFast. It is important that you insert a film holder in the scanner before starting SilverFast.
