I recently purchased a Plustek 7200 with the above upgraded software. I tried to use it on my ScanMaster 5900 and it did not detect it.
Is my software specific to the Plustek or can it operate both scanners - if so how do I set it up?

To obtain optimal scanning results, SilverFast has been designed by modules to work with specific scanner models. Hence you can not use one module of SilverFast for a specific scanner model with a different scanner model, even if it comes from the same manufacturer.

Does this mean I have to purchase a new full version for the Scanmaker or are their modification modules to suit the new scanner - it seems expensive that one should have to rebuy a SE for every scanner?

it is always possible to (cross-)upgrade any SilverFast software product to another,
to learn pricing for an upgrade, please go to our website, follow the "Store" link, and proceed your purchase as if you'd wanted to buy a new product.

Follow the instructions and keep the serial number for your current product ready to calculate the upgrade prices.
