silverfast 6.6 calling scanner v700 rather than v750?

i've just started with this v750 and this software and am having rather sad luck thus far. i am wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that upon opening the silverfast software (which i upgraded to 6.6 immediately upon installing the cd) in photoshop the top of the screen says, "SilverFast Epson Perfection V700." i imagine that this is not the source of my problem but do find this a wee bit disturbing, especially since i bought the scanner from bhphoto and not some shady gray market joint. huh. any thoughts? also, anyone want to tell me how they taught themselves how to get started? my scans right now look like some funky polaroid mess. eek.

Dear erafal

Looks like you are in the beginning stage, at this point I can only recommend you to check the manual of the scanner manufacturer since it has some features which are fundamental for the scanning process.

Also you should check our documentations and video tutorials, follow the next link to get to the knowledge area: http://www.silverfast.com/knowledge/
About the number of the scanner displayed in SilverFast, it is the name the scanner uses to identify itself. As a matter of fact the Epson Perfection V700 and Perfection V750 are the very same device, the difference is the bundle included in every package (software and film holders) and the sticker in the front pannel of each device.

Cheers
