so my basic, basic ques is...

can i just put in my epson 2450 scanner disk and just select the silver fast option.

Or do i need to unplug the scanner from the usb port first?

In the instructions, it says make sure scanner is not attached. But i'm assuming that just means make sure the scanner is not on.

Also, i registered my Epson scanner do i still have to register this Silver fast thingie?

I have a Epson 2450 too but as I remember, you don't plug the scanner till a certain time while installing the Epson drivers. They must be installed first before SF/SE.

Do you have a version of Photo Shop or have installed the Photo Shop Elements installed? You'll that before installing SF/SE.

I know that if SF is used as a plugin, SF won't even open up unless the scanner is turned on!

hello . thanks for replying.

I installed the epson stuff and the adobe stuff. I then hooked up the scanner and have since tried it out. Works verra gewd!!

But now that i know what silverfast is, i want to install it now. And so we come to my basic question above.

This should be a no brainer, but the way the instructions are worded..i'm a bit cautious.

One of the reasons i never installed it, in the first place, was because the instructions said not to say yes for reboot until later. But then the instructions never said when that would be.

Ah well..gonna roll the dice.

ok. I installed it fine thanks.

The only quirky thing so far is that
if i use silverfast in photoshop and then use
twain 5 --twain 5 finds no picture to scan.

and..i now have to press the scanner button 2x before it will launch the program.

anyways, thanks

You probably don't have to reboot because SF isn't a stand allow application by itself.

Hi there,

You are right, in most cases you don't have to reboot after SilverFast Install, but it really depends on the OS/Scanner combination, so sometimes it IS neccessary ...

So the Installer goes the safe lane by ALWAYS recommending to reboot ...
