My scanner is not found

Hi, i am new at the forum and having troubles to use my photoscanner. I use a Plustek Opticfilm 7200 under Windows ME and updated a while ago my PC to Windows XP. Since shortly updated Silverfast 6 SE to version SFE 6.4.4r7 and downloaded from the Plustek site a new 7200i driver V3103 for my scanner. But when i start up the Silverfast launcher still get the message: The scanner is not found...
Where do i go wrong? Please help...
Thank and regards, Ger 8)

Uninstall all of the plustek and SF software. Re boot and follow the original instructions for installing the scanner exactly.
Did you do an upgrade over ME or a clean install of XP ?
Also, most USB scanners do not tolerate anything else on that USB bus. They want to be the only device - so make sure it is plugged into a USB head port on the back/front of the PC

I have upgraded my PC from ME to XP and the scanner was working properly under ME.

Thank you for this advise. Uninstalled all Plustek and SF software. Rebooted and reinstalled the original software for OpticFilm 7200 scanner and Silverfast SE software. Also cleared all the USB busses, but when i opened the Silverfast launcher, it still says: There was no scanner found. Any clues what now to do...?? Thanks for all your advises and help..

Does the scanner show up on Device Manager ? or have a yellow flag beside it if it does ? If it does not show up or it has a yellow flag, then the drivers did not load properly or are having issues with the PC or Windows.
Does QuickScan work with the scanner ?
Otherwise do this from another post:
deletion of SF prefs files should do the trick:
\Documents and settings\[your username]\Application data\LaserSoft Imaging
Delete "LaserSoft Imaging" folder while SF isn't running.
You might find that you need to make "Application data" folder visible first.
To do so, enable option "show hidden files and folders" in Windows Explorer > Extras > Folder options > View.
i noticed there are 3 versions of the 7200 -
7200 - with two different drivers depending on serial number, with SE
7200i - with Ai
7200i-SE - with SF SE
In your post, you mention both the 7200i and the 7200.

In my Device manager the USB scanner showed up with a yellow question mark and have downloaded with the Windows wizard a driver for a filmscanner (could choose between an usb scanner and filmscanner) and the Silverfast application is now available and i have just opened it and also the red cross over the quickscan is gone.
Thanks for all your help and time.
Nothing documents found under my documents and settings/my username/application data.
I hope will keep on working,
Ger
