Update bug?

I installed Silverfast Ai yesterday - v 6.4 that came with a Plustek 7200i scanner. Windows XP SP2.

With a reboot or two I got it to work with the scanner.

Today I downloaded the update version 6.5 Ai IT8, along with documentation and movies. There were no obvious update instructions, so I started by trying to install the documentation and movies. Mistake No.1 They were installed at the top level on C: drive, not in the program folder where they should have been, but no error message was issued. I found later that they installed correctly once I had installed the software update. The user should be alerted to this requirement.

Problem 2: Installing the software update. When I ran the update installer I got a message about an unist... not being found. I presume the updater was trying to unistall the older version? I proceded anyway, and the install went ahead, but I presume there are old files left over from the earlier version left on the disk.

My question: which files (including documentation and movies) should I remove manually, now that I have the updated version installed?

I reported another problem, which is now fixed: update-broke-scan-button-on-plustek-7200i-t4689.html
so I'm inclined to put up with the minor documentation problem :)
