AI 6 startup Problem

OK, so it was all working last time I used my Epson F3200 scanner a few weeks ago. Have done much to PC in meantime and today tried to scan.

launcher pops up AI6 which searches for devices and then shuts down.

So I downloaded latest Epson Scan for the F3200 and installed and it works fine. I grabbed the latest AI 6 today and installed. Made sure all old versions deleted from settings and various other places and cleaned up registry after unstalling. Then installed new AI6 and same happens. Tried advice to delete prefs files before starting and same happens.
Loading PS and trying AI 6 plugin does the same and it closes PS.

So where do I go from here. Epson Scan is working OK.

note I'm using an old PC on w2K probably not usb2.0 but it worked before!

HELP!

If you are using a USB Hub try plugging the scanner directly into the PC. Do you have an all-in-one (Printer, copier, scanner, fax) connected? If you do then removing turning it off before starting SilverFast will likely solve the problem.

scanner is already plugged directly into pc and I don't have an all in one scan/print etc

Have submitted a support ticket and am waiting a reply.

There seem to be a few people who get this problem. Epson scan doesn't have a problem finding the scanner so why does AI?

The only time I had this problem with my Epson scanner was when I had and HP OfficeJet connected to my computer via USB as well. I removed the OfficeJet and now connect to it via my home network.

as I said, it worked before. There must be some software contention somewhere

hi,

i've got exactly the same problem with my epson v750pro, epson scan works fine, while starting sf is impossible and/or shuts down my photoshop. it has worked before (few weeks ago). i'm connected to the pc directly, no all-in-one-hardware. that's really strange...

solved it!

ok, very interesting:

I unplugged all of my usb-cables (exept for my router) . tried to launch sf - no problem! replugged them cable by cable - still no problem. i've changed the usb-port for my scanner, maybe that was the problem, although there is no hub in between...
hopefully it works for the others as well!
