Install problems with Silverfast Ai on reflecta RPS 3600

I already have been told not to post specific installation-problems here but as there has been no reply since June, 24th (!) to my posting to SilverFast-support I am afraid I have to try this way.
This is the message I sent to SilverFast support:
Request for support
Error message: "Scanner nicht gefunden" (Scanner not found)
Problem:
I bought a new scanner (Reflecta RPS 3600) and it was shipped together with SilverFast AI v6.0.1r12 .
This was working without any problem. Now I wanted to upgrade to the latest version for my scanner which is v6.4.2r1c. I uninstalled the old SilverFast completely and installed the new version. And this never can find my scanner. So this cannot be a problem of the scanner because it worked smoothly with the old SilverFast AI.

Operating system: Windows 98
Host program: TWAIN
Twain: Other
Scanner: Reflecta RPS 3600

In the meantime I tried the latest version 6.4.2r2b but the result ist the same.
I would be glad to receive an answer finally to this problem because 6 weeks delay for a support request is not acceptable at all, is it?
