Hi Dear,
I have just downloaded version 6.4.1r5 to update my existing version (6.2) of Silverfast. Installation was successful (so said the displayed message).
After that I always get the message "Scanner not found". To proof I tried with the original software for my reflecta proscan4000 and it worked out well. So connections and so on should be allright.
Still Silverfast is not working. I even removed all previous installations with deleting (Mac OS 10.3.9) and reinstalled the original version of Silverfast from CD. It still does display that error message (No scanner...)
Please help. What can I do? I want to scan....
Regards Steven
Scanner not found after update
Solution
Hi Dear,
this is what I'v got from SF Support. It works well. May be the problem was the update itself.
"Below you find a description how to remove an earlier version completely
(apart from the serialisation info) and update to the latest release.
However, if you want to downdate to an earlier release, you can procede
similarly.
Please try first if the trouble experienced can't be remedied by a fresh
install of the latest update release.
Become root / adminstrator on your Mac OS X system.
Sometimes, actual root access is necessary in order to have permission to
erase/update all files. If you need to find out how to enable root access on
your computer, please visit:
http://www.silverfast.com/faq/1005/en.html#macosx
Be sure to completely de-install the prior version:
Mac OS X does not yet offer uninstall routines. Simply navigate to the folder
SilverFast was installed into and remove the files and folders named
SilverFast and LaserSoft.
These could be located at:
/Applications/SilverFast Application
/Applications/Photoshop/Plugins/Import-Export/
/User/(your username)/Library/Preferences/LaserSoft Imaging/
Then you want to download and install the latest update for your version of
SilverFast from our website.
Now you can run the update. The update installation procedure is finished by
rebooting your system."
Thanks to Mr. Noack.
