Useless Small Preview Window in version 6.2 (Epson 1680Pro)

Just upgraded to version 6.2 for my Epson 1680 Pro.

What's the story on this NEW teenie weenie preview window that I now get in SF AND which is not re-sizeable? It's literally 1/10th the size of the previous window I had in version 6.1.0. There is NO detail to be discerned from a preview window of this size.

Dear prachun

this in not the way the preview window is intended to work.
Please locate the prefs folder and delete it. Restart SilverFast.
Preview window back to normal size?

Hello Mr. Noak:
Thanks for responding to my problem. I tried deleting the preference file/folder and no luck -- still a small useless preview window.
Re-installed v6.2 for the Epson 1680Pro -- it now crashes/closes Photoshop CS every time I atempt to open it from Photoshop.

However, I have successfully installed v6.2 for my Nikon 8000ED and it WORKS properly -- I don't pretend to understand this.

I have noticed that the new SF v6.2 for my Epson 1680Pro is only half the size of the older v6.1 (v6.1 = 11.6MB; v6.2 = 5.7MB) -- does this seem right? The newer version (6.2) for the Nikon 8000ED is about the SAME size as the older version 6.1.

Interestingly, I've even tried to re-install the older version 6.1 for my Epson 1680 and it now it ALSO crashes Photoshop. So I can't even go back to v6.1.

My feeling here is that there is a significant problem with version 6.2 -- for the Epson 1680. It also asks where to install the program -- does it matter, and why? Why or why not should I install those Windows XP ASPI drivers?

please send me the SF_Logfile for testing purposes

Dear prachun

thanks for your efforts. I would need the SF_Logfile for a request for testing. Could you please send this to SilverFast support via pasting it along with a short problem description into the contact form (=> http://www.silverfast.com/problemreport/en.html )? Thanks in advance.

SilverFast 6.2 should work fine with Photoshop CS.

The new installer generates much smaller installation packages. This is alright and intended as service to users with modem and ISDN internet connection.
Don't worry, there's nothing missing in these packages.

Also it is correct for SilverFast 6.2 to ask if the user wants to install it into the LaserSoft folder or the Import-Export folder of Adobe Photoshop.

You are right, previous releases did not ask you to install the ASPI drivers. They simply did it. There are always users you want to control what happens on their machines. That's why we offered them the possibility to deny ASPI layer driver installation.

So, everything's fine and as it should be - except for your configuration and the behaviour of SilverFast, especially when it comes the preview window size.
