Windows XP and Epson Scanner

Downloaded Silverfast 6 upgrade some 4 weeks ago but installer is not working so I am sitting with an unusable piece of software.
Have found a reference in one of the forums that the problem is known and a new software version 6.1.0r8a will be available soon.
Can receive no acknowledgement of this from technical support or any idea of timescale.

Dear Richard
please tell me which
Epson model you need the
update for because for most scanners already the 6.2.0r3 (hot and fresh and with corrected
IT8 calibration) is available for download.
Kind regards
Sonny

Thanks for new release info.
Downloaded new software but installation still does not work.
When opening Photoshop 7.0 I get the following error message:
"This application has failed to start because DICELib.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem"
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop 7 and then reinstalling Silverfast Ai.
Still the same problem.
If I uninstall Silverfast 6.2.0 the problem in Photoshop goes away and if I then reinstall SF Ai 5.1.2 everything works perfectly.
What do we do now?

Dear Richard
you see me contrited %-(
It is true the DICElib.dll is missing in the installation package - but of course it will be added soon.
I sent you the missing DLL via email, so you need no longer wait for an updated installation package.

DICELib.dll now installed in C:/Windows/System32 and PS.7 now loads and initialises correctly.
The Import folder contains the Silverfast Epson loader and all appears to be functioning as it should.
Many thanks.

Dear Alec
emailed that file to you. But as you are using an
Epson 4990 that is not necessary. The DICELib.DLL quoted above refers to an installation problem long solved with the
Epson 4870.
SilverFast's ICE-DLLs as well as Epson's for the 4990 are named differently and thus cannot interfere with each other.
I suppose the problem you are running in is a failed de-installation of software for the
Epson 4870 when upgrading to a 4990.

Dear Sonny,
I'm sorry but your assumption is wrong. This PC has never had a failed scanner installation or a previously installed scanner of any type or manufacturer. Clearly this problem hasn't been sorted out as this forum is full of people complainig about the same issue.
As for whether this file is called something else now, I'm afraid that doesn't help me fix the problem.

Can someone please send me the missing dicelib.dll file as I'm also getting the error message despite re-installing both Photoshop CS2 & Silverfast?
By the way; where should the file be placed in my computer (Windows XP)?

It's now over two months since I posted a response stating that this problem persists. Can anyone actually offer a solution?
