Omnipage Pro scanner not setup with LaserFast 6.1

I have LaserFast 6.1 installed as a Twain driver and it works great for Photoshop v6.01. This runs on Windows 2000 with all updates.

What it is not working with is ScanSoft Omnipage Pro 11.0. When I try to scan in Omnipage Pro I get "Scanner Error."

When I try to setup the scanner I get:

Scanner Setup Wizard ERROR

Unable to launch the Scanner Setup Wizaed

Possible reasons:
1. Your system registry may be corrupt
2. Scanner Setup Wizard is inproperly installed
3. You forgot to reboot your computer after the installation

Code = 80040154
WCode = 0000
Code meaning = Class not registered
Source = (null)
Description (null)

What do I do to fix this? Thanks.

SilverFast and Omnipage

Dear edscott123

seems to me that Omnipage Pro does exactly have the trouble it states:
It can't launch its Scanner Setup Wizard, because it somehow wasn't installed correctly.

http://knowledgebase.scansoft.com/view.asp?tnID=795
states that TWAIN manucfacturer drivers should be supported by Omnipage.
Unless I don't know what scanner and what version of SilverFast you do employ, I can't tell whether SilverFast uses manufacturer drivers in this case or if it installs its own.

http://knowledgebase.scansoft.com/view.asp?tnID=793
makes it clear that Omnipage needs to establish what scanner is to be accessed, and it does so with the Scanner Setup Wizard.

You need to to so, unless Omnipage already knows the scanner.

As there is no mention of SilverFast in Scansoft's knowledgebase concerning Omnipage, I would rather doubt that, though.

My suggestion thus would be:
-> De-install Omnipage
-> Restart Windows
-> Re-install Omnipage to make sure that the Scanner Setup Wizard is correctly installed.

Please note, however, that you cannot always be sure that any software which claims to support TWAIN will run with another such software, because they sometimes differ to much in their actual implementation of TWAIN.
But as you can see from your flawless Photoshop-to-SilverFast(TWAIN)-environment the installation or SilverFast seems to have been smoothly as it should be.
