IT8 Calibration - which reference file to use

I have just bought a new Microtek 9800XL plus including Silverfast AI Studio 8. But how to use the IT8 Calibration?
It keeps asking me for a reference file. But which one to choose in the Lasersoft imaging directory?
Included with Silverfast there was a Kodak Charge: R131030, but I do not know if that is the one to use - or should I buy another one. Anyway there is no corresponding reference file for that number.
I am scanning handdrawn color-illustrations for art-books.

Best regards
Ole K. Jensen

Dear Mr Jensen,

In case it is one of our IT8 targets you will find all our reference files for download here on our website.
The name of the required file should correspond to the letter/number below the barcode on the target.

In case you are using a target from another manufacturer please download the reference file from their website.
It should be a clear-text (.txt) file.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Thank you for your reply,
and I found the reference file, so everything are fine.

But as I'm a beginner in this area - what target do you recommend me to use, to work with handdrawn color-illustrations (watercolor) for art-books.

Best regards
Ole K. Jensen

Dear Mr. Jensen,

Normally a standard target should be sufficient.
We also offer high precision, hand measured targets in case you need the utmost color precision.
The size is manly a factor in handling the target.
Larger targets also have larger color fields which can compensate for light scratches a dust particles on the glass.
The material used for producing the target does not matter in regards to the calibration.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
