maybe a way to avoid confusion on serials....

Hi Silverfast makers!

I have the second time problems with my upgrade while putting the serial in, my IT8 option is gone after the upgrade for my Nikon.
(support is allready mailed, hopefully my problem will be solved soon)

So how about a function in the serialisation dialog, where one can export a form with the correct, exact needed serial for updating the program with still the same features as it is right now!
Also a information window with the correct serial for the plugin itself (clearly shown as "needed for updates") AND underneath a window with the serial of the options (i.e. IT8) would do the job i think.

It?s really anoying to have to contact the support every second update, not only that these guys surely can do better than providing new serials all day long.

These tips are ment for good and will be maybe a way to avoid this serial confusion on wich the board is filled :-? [/b]

Thank you, then the first mail should be at the right place :-?
Any idea how long it will take to get my IT8 functionality back?
I ask because the new serial was given online in 2 seconds but it takes now more than one working day and i not even have a re-mail from support :-?

regards
Wolfgang

Hi again,

I have to give BIG thanks to Eric and Kristian from the support team.
My serial problem is allready fixed and everything is working OK now. :D :D :D
BTW. i found no serious bug at the moment, and the negafix feature seem to be much better than in version 5.5 (at least my impression).

friendly regards
Wolfgang

Wolfgang.

Thank you very much for your friendly comment. We always try to support our customers as best as possible.

To all.
When you upgrade to v6, please note the text on the upgrade page, saying that you should enter your IT8 serial number, if you have one. This will avoid the problems that Wolfgang had.

Hmm, so i seem to misunderstood this text at first, sorry for the troubles i caused

So anyway, what about a infobox in the programs "info" dialog that tells something like "when you upgrade, use this number for keeping all your options working" with a copyable string of the actual serial?
This will lead the users to a sure way that they have the valid serial for their upgrade. In my case it was very confusing because i upgraded since version 4.x, in between i ordered the IT8 option and got everytime another serial for the upgrades :-?
(this resume just for understanding of the other users here, i know you?re informed about the whole story)

friendly regards
Wolfgang

The credits dialog of v6 contains a "register" button, which let you register automatically via the internet.

We are currently working on an automatic updage/upgrade method too. There will be an "update/upgrade" button in the credits dialog as well. Pushing this button, will connect you to the internet. We will look for available updates/upgrades for your plugin and tell you what the differences are. Of course you can select yourself, whether you want to update/upgrade or not. For upgrading, we will use the current serial information to find the correct upgrade. This will make upgrading much more comfortable and secure.

Wow great news on that thing Eric!

I see i?m not alone with problems like the last one and it will be a great step ahead to make this process uncomlicated, respect !!
One last (maybe dumb) question:
Do i have to register with that new button again for this v6 upgrade or is it still unnessesary to do so?
Just to be on the latest knowledge step ;-)

friendly regards
Wolfgang

As far as it is clear for me by now, it?s not nessesary to register with the register button.

However, once used the register button, all your personal data (name, adress...) is remembered in the database for the next time.
