Installation/launcher failure on Mac OS X 10.10

I have a Plustek 7600i scanner which came with a SilverFast Ai Studio 6.6 installation disk.
I recently bought a MacBook Pro, running OS X 10.10.2 (Yosemite) and I have been trying to install my scanner and software on that.
After installation, I run the SilverFast Launcher. It shows just one button for SilverFast (UScan) (vers. 6.6.2r5).
When I click the button nothing happens. If I click the dock icon again, I see a crash report, which is automatically sent to Apple.
I went to the LaserSoft/SilverFast web site and checked for the latest version. I gave information about my scanner and OS (10.10.2), and I found that I was qualified to download an update. However the update appears identical to the software I already have, and installing it gives exactly the same results - it crashes.
I went again to the LaserSoft/SilverFast web site to try to find help.
Clicking the "Support" tab gets an empty page. Clicking "Support->Support Assistant" gets the same thing.
Clicking "Contact" gets a page with phone numbers, but no email address for technical support.
Given all these problems, I now have very little confidence in LaserSoft/SilverFast.
Can you offer some technical support that might enable me to use my scanner on OS X 10.10?
