Cannot reinstall Silverfast Ai 8

I had to wipe my hard drive and reinstall everything from a backup. Now, Silverfast wants my serial number installed, which I have done, but it responds with the following message which is not entirely clear. It says "Please insert original installation media. This is needed for the serialization."

I see from notes I made three years ago that my copy was a free upgrade from Version 6.6 that was bundled with a new scanner that I had bought at that time. (I had previously owned version 6.6 but used the one bundled in order to get the free upgrade.) Now, maybe the installation message means that it wants a disc that came with the scanner 3 years ago, but I do tidy my office from time to time and that must have gone out with the trash.

If that is indeed what the cryptic message meant, then it seems a little unreasonable to me to demand old out-of-date software years after it has been used. After all, Lasersoft has given me an upgrade and a licence that I have been using for a very long time. That should be sufficient.
