I have got a lot of troubles to start Silver fast under OS Windows millenium. Any help will be helpful.

PowerLook 180 the UMAX USB film scanner was supplied with Photoshop Elements and SilverFast Ai soft 5.5.

The installation was carried out exactly as it is described in that booklet. However any attempt to get image from a negative film or positive one was unsussessful.

The device was really working a little bit after "prescan" or "RGB" batton was activated, the geen led was making a thoughtful messages but, at the point of sharpness adjastment (may be, I do not know for sure) the apparatus went to silent state. No image appeared. Task manager gave me "Adobe Photoshop not responding" message.

The hardware is brand new an OK - I have it checked up on Windows 2000 computer of my frend. The PL 180 was quite happy even with demo SilverFast and gave prescan and picture from a 35 mm positive.

My system is Atlon 1400, ASUS A7V133, 256 PC133, scsi ZIP, cdrw. No any cameras or scanners were used with previously. The VIA usb filter 1.something (fresh one) was applied. The USB is activated in bios, sure.

So how it may be solved????
Any ideas
Or Win 2000 is the only possibility???
Please help

Do you have Windows 2000 on the same machine?
could you try the Umax on your Win2000 system?

to LSI_Engelhardt :D

I have got Windows Millenium (now I am really considerinig to agree with those who called ir as a dead branch of Windows Tree...) on my home computer where I am going to make scans. And it is not good enough to meet UMAX PL 180 :o .

Problem  .

And performance of UMAX in Windows 2000 pro was tested on a computer located in institute I am working in. It was OK, with demo version of Silver Fast.

Since U PL 180 is quite fresh scanner I hope that I have got a fresh SF 5,5 version together with.
I hope
